Projects
Currently, the only projects I have here are artifacts of my four years at WPI. They all have their merits, but I am quite proud of the Calibre Project. I worked with two great guys and we achieved a lot on a very tight schedule.
Micro-Aerial Vehicle
This project designed, built and tested a Micro-Aerial Vehicle (MAV). Topics researched include: gas and electric propulsion, low Re aerodynamics, and micro R/C electronics. The most promising concept design was built to optimize airfoil geometry, battery placement, flap size and location, and CG location. These characteristics were tested and altered to augment the quality of the aircraft and its flight. The final design had a 21 centimeter wingspan, a 77 gram mass and flew several short flights.
Calibre Cassette Library
Calibre is a free book on tape lending library for print disabled persons. They are interested in the benefits that digital audio can provide for their clients. I worked with two of my mates to recommend a course of action for the next decade, supported by research we conducted on client demand and demographic and technology trends. We also considered the impact of copyright laws and digital rights management technologies on Calibre and their clients.
The Siegfried Idyll: Jewel of the Wagner Romance
The Siegfried Idyll was never intended for the public, but it was published when the Wagner's were pressed by debt. In its original form it was called the Tribschen Idyll and first performed by a fifteen-piece orchestra as a birthday gift for Cosima. For its intimacy and emotion, the Idyll is regarded as one of Wagner's greatest works, and saw many performances. This is a study of the events of the Wagner romance that prompted its composition. Its roots stretch from their earliest days and it would affect them to their last. As a consequence, much of the Wagner romance is covered here in a condensed form.
