Delta IV and FreeBSD 5.0 DP2

Big rockets and free operating systems. It just gets my blood pumping.

Delta IV

Boeing successfully launched their first Delta IV mission yesterday! Hopefully, this new platform will provide a boost (sorry, bad pun) to America's space market. The world launch market certainly is getting crowded with various countries and platforms elbowing for the dollars. Hopefully, Delta IV will bring some revenue to Boeing and they'll be able to further improve.

FreeBSD

FreeBSD Developer Preview 2 was recently released. Several reports indicate that a cute little daemon has been tormmenting Microsoft with even better efficiency. I'm typing this through Mozilla 1.2 on that release right now. Aside from some boot problems to start, it is really not production ready, and the fact that Mozilla 1.1 wouldn't compile, things seem to work pretty well. I plan to run some MySQL tests to see if the threading really is improved. From there I'll probably play with all the new features, ooo and ahh a bit and maybe even accomplish something. Give it a shot, it'll only cost you time.
